Limited Justice

Tonight we learn that Brian Williams has been suspended without pay by NBC News for a period of six months.  Limited  justice for falsely claiming to have been on a military helicopter that was hit by RPG fire.  I say limited, because he should have been dismissed...fired...canned...sacked...whatever term the NBC News folks use to describe termination of employment.

It is not a matter of "misremembering" whether it was a Tuesday or Wednesday 12 years ago.  It wasn't a matter of "conflating" two innocuous helicopter flights.

Nor is it a matter worthy of comparison with statements told in the lead up to the Iraq war.

It is a matter of lying multiple times.  Knowingly.  Deliberately.  Intentionally.

So the justice is limited.  Maybe, just maybe, in the next six months NBC News will correctly come to see they can do without Williams.
