Take the time to carefully consider that for which you are thankful.
In this gray beard's world, I am thankful for the following:
- Our loving and forgiving God.
- A wonderful, healthful family.
- My bride of nearly 43 years.
- Terrific grand children.
- Close, meaningful friendships.
- Personal health.
- Continued ability and desire to rigorously exercise each and every day.
- Having a roof over our heads and food on the table.
- Having proudly served our nation for more than 30 years.
- The natural beauties of this great nation.
- Humor.
- Being an American.
- The security provided by the men and women in our armed forces.
- The sacrifices of military families, particularly when their soldier, sailor, airman, or Marine is deployed.
- Freedom.
As I sit down to enjoy our Thanksgiving meal on Thursday, I will include a prayer for those men and women who wear the cloth of our nation and are away from their loved ones, as I experienced all too many times. I will pray for their safety and that they may enjoy next Thanksgiving with family and friends.
May you all enjoy wonderful Thanksgiving replete with family and friends, a good meal, laughter, and humility.
